ABOUT US
Sustainability
At Karuna London, we set out to find the most sustainable, innovative leather alternatives to create modern luxury accessories grounded in our core values.

Where we Start
The Design Process
Designed with modern women in mind, we create seasonless, multifunctional pieces which you will carry with you for years to come.
Our slow fashion mindset starts at the design stage, and continues right through to how we develop and produce our limited collections.
We use a strong technical approach when designing and sourcing our materials, reducing the number of samples needed and materials used, and avoiding excess shipping.
We collaborate with experts with a wealth of knowledge, at every stage of the process, to best achieve our goals and create the products we envision.

Always Cruelty Free
Why Not Leather?
Removing leather from our wardrobes is one of the most impactful decisions we can make towards thoughtful consumerism and reducing our environmental footprint.
Leather is one of the most harmful materials on the planet. Animal agriculture causes deforestation, threatens biodiversity, pollutes water systems, and exposes people working in tanneries to carcinogenic chemicals.
Not to mention the devastating and violent loss of sentient animal life in global slaughterhouses.
We are on a mission to bring you the most responsible alternatives available.

Our Sustainable Materials
Luxury Leather Alternatives
Our luxury, high-performance leather alternatives redefine the experience of cruelty-free leather, so you do not have to compromise on quality or style to live your values.
Our PETA-approved technical vegan leather is the only vegan leather to contain 50% rapidly renewable Tencel fibres. Made with recycled polyurethane from plastic bottles, t-shirts and other post-consumer waste, this material is made without the harmful effects of leather to the environment, people and animals (REACH certified).
Not only is it beautiful and buttery soft, the list of benefits is endless - stain, cracking and water resistant, lightweight and with a low carbon footprint, allergen free, stain repellent, fade resistant, breathable, abrasion tested and non toxic. It is made within systems which ensure energy conservation with a commitment to building resilient and sustainable supply chains. It is also antibacterial and Clean Air Certified for low chemical emissions, making it a healthier choice for you to carry daily and keep in your home.

Our Sustainable Materials
Bio-Leather
In our vibrant, vegan Bio-Leather, agricultural plant waste is mixed with recycled textiles, responsibly sourced viscose and recycled water bottles, diverting waste from landfills and protecting our natural resources.
This cutting-edge technology has a lower environmental impact than traditional leather production. It also avoids chemical solvents used in processing animal leather which are toxic to humans and the environment.
It is certified by the USDA BioPreferred programme, PETA Approved Vegan, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and LAV Animal Free.
By supporting our brand, not only are you investing in high quality, you are also contributing to a more circular economy which protects our natural world.

Our Sustainable Materials
Linings
Our ecological suede linings are made in Italy from recycled plastic such as water bottles, t-shirts and other post-consumer waste. We source the world's only microfibre to hold an Environmental Product Declaration certificate, to guarantee sustainability throughout the whole production cycle.
Our cotton is sourced from a third-generation, family-owned business in India and certified 100% organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). This means that no pesticides have been used to grow the cotton plant, process the fibres, or weave the fabric. From non-genetically modified seeds to the finished fabric, an environmentally responsible process is used.
GOTS also ensures ethical labour conditions throughout the supply chain, including no child labour, fair pay, safe working conditions, and that labour is taken freely.
Responsible water consumption is monitored throughout growing and production, reducing water stress in these regions. Organic cotton uses around 90% less water than conventional cotton.
At the end of life, our organic cotton is biodegradable without any harmful residues going back into the earth.
